Recreate the authentic blackwater streams and flooded forest floors of Southeast Asia and South America directly in your aquarium. This curated botanical trio combines high-potency tannins, rapid biofilm cultivation, and durable structural shelter to establish a thriving, low-stress biotope for bettas, dwarf shrimp, and softwater fish.
Husbandry & Habitat Highlights
- Layered Water Conditioning: Delivers a balanced infusion of humic acids and concentrated tannins from Indian almond leaves to naturally soften water, support stable pH, and provide mild antimicrobial benefits.
- Rapid Biofilm & Microfauna Hub: Casuarina cones develop a dense, nutrient-rich grazing biofilm within 24 to 48 hours, creating continuous feeding stations for dwarf shrimp (Neocaridina and Caridina), snails, and delicate fry.
- Long-Lasting Architectural Hide: The dense woody lotus pod offers multi-chambered honeycomb shelter and grazing surfaces that resist rapid breakdown, lasting for months submerged.
- Instinctive Stress Reduction: Recreates the dim, amber-tinted water conditions that trigger natural foraging, vibrant coloration, and breeding behaviors in wild bettas and dwarf cichlids.
- 100% Organically Sourced: Sustainably harvested and naturally dried without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, chemicals, or dyes.
What's Included
- 10 Medium Catappa Indian Almond Leaves (Terminalia catappa)

- Habitat Compatibility: Blackwater aquascapes, biotope aquariums, betta tanks, dwarf shrimp colonies, dwarf cichlid setups, paludariums, and bioactive vivariums.
Preparation Guide
- For Aquariums: Rinse all botanicals thoroughly. Boil for 15–20 minutes to release initial surface tannins and aid sinking, then soak in clean water overnight before introducing them to the tank. (Introduce 1–2 leaves and a small pinch of cones first, adding more gradually over several days to dial in your target water tint).
- For Paludariums & Terrariums: Ready for direct placement across damp substrate or leaf litter layers to establish localized micro-shelters and grazing zones for bioactive cleanup crews.
