A long-lasting bioactive terrarium begins with proper soil layering. This durable fiberglass substrate barrier creates a clean, reliable separation between your drainage layer (false bottom) and your bioactive soil mix, preventing substrate compaction, waterlogged roots, and anaerobic bacteria buildup.
Key Benefits
- Optimized Drainage Flow: The fine-weave mesh allows excess water to drain smoothly into the false bottom while keeping substrate, charcoal, and organic matter contained in the upper layers.
- Rot & Humidity Resistant: Constructed from non-reactive, coated fiberglass that will not rust, decay, or mold in high-humidity tropical vivariums or arid setups.
- Safe for Microfauna & Inhabitants: Safe for clean-up crews (isopods, springtails), plant roots, and digging reptiles, amphibians, or invertebrates.
- Custom Sizable: Easily trims to exact enclosure dimensions with standard household scissors without unravelling.
Product Specifications
- Dimensions: 1 meter × 1.5 meters (approx. 39.4" × 59")
- Material: Coated, non-toxic fiberglass
- Color: Charcoal Black (blends discreetly along terrarium walls)
- Compatibility: Suitable for glass terrariums, wooden vivariums, paludariums, and customized display habitats
How to Install
- Add your chosen drainage media (clay hydro-balls, pumice, or lava rock) to the bottom of the enclosure.
- Measure your enclosure footprint and cut the mesh with standard scissors, leaving a 0.5-inch border on all sides to curl up against the glass.
- Lay the barrier flat across the drainage layer.
- Add your bioactive substrate directly on top, plant your greenery, and introduce your clean-up crew.
