These 3D-printed corner hides from Pritz Exotica are excellent for saving floor space while keeping the moss securely contained. Since reptile sizing depends heavily on how tightly they like to curl up (and most prefer a very snug fit to feel secure), here is a breakdown of how those 4", 6", and 8" sizes generally map out for different animals:
4-Inch Hide (Small / Micro)
This size has a very small footprint and is best suited for neonates, juveniles, or micro-species.
-
Best for:
- Hatchling to juvenile geckos (like young leopard geckos or crested geckos).
- Micro-geckos (such as mourning geckos or viper geckos).
- Hatchling colubrids or very small young snakes (like a baby house snake).
- Small invertebrates.
6-Inch Hide (Medium)
This is the "sweet spot" size for many standard-sized pet lizards and young snakes.
-
Best for:
- Adult Leopard Geckos (gives them just enough room to turn around and curl up on the moss).
- Sub-adult Corn Snakes, Milk Snakes, or King Snakes.
- Juvenile Ball Pythons (similar to the little guy peeking out in your photo).
- Adult Crested Geckos (while primarily arboreal, they will absolutely utilize a ground-level humid hide when shedding).
8-Inch Hide (Large)
This size is needed for chunkier species or sub-adult to adult snakes that require a bit more coils-space.
-
Best for:
- Adult Cape House Snakes (especially adult females, which get significantly larger than males).
- Sub-adult to smaller adult Ball Pythons.
- Fully adult Corn Snakes or larger colubrids.
- Larger lizard species that need a localized humidity boost, like young Blue Tongue Skinks.
