Bring a piece of the wild forest floor directly into your enclosure. These all-natural, thick-walled seed pods serve as durable micro-shelters, feeding stations, and long-lasting enrichment for reptiles, invertebrates, and aquatic life.
Husbandry & Habitat Highlights
- Secure Microhabitat: The deep, concave shape creates an organic, stress-reducing retreat for small reptiles, amphibians, hermit crabs, dwarf shrimp, and nano fish.
- Bioactive Cleanup Crew Support: Provides a continuous grazing surface and slow-release food source for isopods and springtails as the pod gradually breaks down.
- Aquatic & Blackwater Enrichment: Promotes beneficial biofilm and leaches gentle tannins to support naturalistic biotope water conditions.
- 100% Natural & Untreated: Organically sourced from India and naturally dried without dyes, preservatives, or synthetic chemicals.
Specifications
- Scientific Name: Sterculia foetida (Badam pod, Java Olive, Split nut pod)
- Average Size: 3 to 5 inches in diameter (natural variation will occur)
- Habitat Compatibility: Bioactive vivariums, arid or tropical terrariums, isopod colonies, and freshwater aquariums.
Preparation Guide
- For Terrariums & Vivariums: Ready for direct placement on the substrate or leaf litter layer. If desired, give a brief rinse or heat-sanitize prior to introduction.
- For Aquariums: Boil for 1–2 hours to promote sinking and release initial tannins. Soak in clean water overnight (or until waterlogged) before adding to your aquatic setup.
