A compact version of the botanical hobby’s most iconic shelter, mini lotus seed pods bring intricate honeycomb architecture and dynamic micro-shelter directly to nano-scale vivariums, isopod bins, and aquascapes.
Husbandry & Habitat Highlights
- Targeted Nano Microhabitat: Petite honeycomb chambers provide scaled, stress-reducing shelter and secure molting retreats for Neocaridina and Caridina dwarf shrimp, nano fish, and small invertebrates.
- Living "Springtail Delivery Pods": An exceptional tool for springtail culturing and seeding—microfauna readily colonize every open chamber, allowing for clean, hassle-free transfers directly into bioactive enclosures.
- Bioactive Grazing & Substrate Enrichment: Creates a persistent organic grazing surface and hide for isopods and springtails, slowly enriching the substrate bed as it breaks down naturally over time.
- Aquatic Tannins & Biofilm Development: Cultivates a dense layer of beneficial grazing biofilm while releasing moderate tannins to condition water naturally in blackwater and biotope setups.
- 100% Organically Sourced: Naturally harvested in India and dried without pesticides, artificial fertilizers, chemicals, or dyes.
Specifications
- Scientific Name: Nelumbo nucifera (Mini Lotus seed head, Sacred Lotus pod)
- Average Size: Approximately 0.75 to 1.25 inches in diameter (natural variations in chamber count, shape, and hue will occur)
- Habitat Compatibility: Bioactive vivariums, springtail master cultures, isopod enclosures, dart frog setups, nano tanks, and freshwater shrimp aquariums.
Preparation Guide
- For Terrariums & Springtail Cultures: Ready for direct placement. Scatter across leaf litter, nestle into damp substrate, or place into master culture bins for quick microfauna harvesting.
- For Aquariums: Boil for at least 15 minutes to release initial tannins and facilitate waterlogging, then soak in fresh water overnight or until submerged (use aquarium-safe weights to anchor buoyant pods until fully saturated).
