Precision Handheld Digital Ultraviolet (UV) Radiometer & Terrarium Sensor

Take the guesswork out of captive lighting and ensure your reptiles receive accurate, species-appropriate ultraviolet exposure with a dedicated digital radiometer.
While a UVB lamp or basking bulb may continue emitting visible light, its vital ultraviolet wavelength output degrades significantly over months of regular use. This handheld UV radiometer provides fast, objective data to map your terrarium's Ferguson Zones, dial in safe basking perches, and know exactly when bulbs require replacement before health declines. Engineered with an imported optical photodiode and an ultraviolet glass filter, it delivers steady readings without interference from stray ambient room light. Each unit features a high-contrast 3.5-digit LCD screen, an integrated flip-open sensor shield, and a removable shock-absorbing orange silicone case designed for everyday vivarium maintenance.
Key Highlights
- Map Safe Ferguson Zones: Measure exact ultraviolet irradiance at various perch heights and basking angles to avoid both metabolic bone disease from under-exposure and photo-keratitis from over-exposure.
- Track Bulb Decay Accurately: Monitor monthly output decline on T5 tubes, compact fluorescents, and mercury vapor bulbs so you only replace lamps when output truly drops.
- Precision Optical Sensor: Features imported semiconductor photodiodes paired with ultraviolet glass filtration to eliminate stray light distortion.
- Fast Sampling Rate: Delivers real-time diagnostic readings with an agile conversion rate of 3.0 readings per second on an easy-to-read 3.5-digit LCD display.
- Protected Terrarium Design: Outfitted with a flip-up probe cap to guard the lens against debris and a heavy-duty silicone bumper case to protect against accidental drops.

Husbandry & Measurement Guidelines
- Warm-Up Period: Allow fluorescent tubes and mercury vapor lamps to warm up for 15 to 20 minutes before taking readings to ensure stable, accurate output.
- Mesh Screen Penetration: Standard enclosure mesh screens can block 30% to 50% of available UV rays; always measure at the animal's physical basking level inside the enclosure rather than above the screen lid.
- Probe Alignment: Flip the protective sensor lid fully back and aim the sensor window directly toward the center of the light beam. Close the cover after use to prevent dust, water droplets, or calcium residue from clouding the optical glass.
