Heating Installation & Calibration

• Exterior Side Placement: Mount the ultra-thin heating mat to the exterior side wall of the enclosure using the included aluminum foil tape. Side mounting establishes a gentle ambient warmth in the upper canopy while avoiding heat buildup under substrate or floor liners.
• Securing the Probe: Sandwich the thermostat probe directly against the heating element on the exterior, taping it firmly in place with the foil tape. This keeps all wiring outside the habitat and ensures the thermostat directly monitors the pad's actual thermal output.
• Calibrating for PVC Variance: Expanded PVC acts as a thermal barrier, meaning the inside surface will read several degrees cooler than the heat pad itself.
• Dialing in with the Temp Gun: Use the included Digital Infrared Temperature Gun to check the interior wall surface directly opposite the pad. If you want an interior warm spot of 78°F–80°F, you may need to set your thermostat slightly higher (e.g., 84°F–88°F) until the interior surface reaches your desired target.
